These are not my words , these are not my words... these are not my words.
You’re granting him too much intelligence. He’s doing nothing other than being contrarian and anyone with any sense has him on ignore. It’s utterly predictable. here's my take.
The gist of what Sandstorm said re herd immunity was: in Covid's case it'll take maybe 4-5 years and kill everyone above the age of 80 or a BMI of 35. A large percentage of everyone else will suffer long-term vascular harm.
The gist of Bimbo's response was: “A large percentage”
It’s not even killing a large % of the over 80’s ......
My reading of the latter is that Bimbo is doing two things.
He is expressly disputing Sandstorm's assertion that Covid will kill off all the >80s and he is implicitly, by quoting the words 'a large percentage', disputing Sandstorm's assertion regarding long-term vascular damage.
Bimbo may have the (ahem) occasional contrarian moment but he posts frequently enough for me to become accustomed to his rather abbreviated style.Biffer wrote: Tue Dec 08, 2020 8:29 amYou’re granting him too much intelligence. Frankly the whole dispute boils down to your own definition of a 'large percentage.'MungoMan wrote: Tue Dec 08, 2020 8:13 am I will probably regret this, but...

Personally I'd rather not have to even contemplate losing my ability to walk up a flight of stairs without having to rest afterwards. I know two fit 50-something women in Cape Town in exactly that state after contracting Covid in May & June.

Yeah, saw the news on that. Presumably targeting an extremely stable part of the virus (I did read about which bit it targets, but can't remember).Saint wrote: Tue Dec 08, 2020 7:32 pm And as a slightly unrelated but still very interesting development - a universal, long lasting, flu vaccine has just completed Phase I trials. I’m surprised that he’s still allowed to get away with that. I’d have thought the twitterati would have “cancelled” him by now.
I think so, and something that's only possible with modern vaccine development techniques.Raggs wrote: Tue Dec 08, 2020 7:43 pmYeah, saw the news on that. Just had a quick skim and it's not. Sounds like the trials may have been a touch more selective than they should have beenSaint wrote: Wed Dec 09, 2020 10:38 amThat should have been in the Pfizer data and part of their recommendations on administering this vaccineLongshanks wrote: Wed Dec 09, 2020 10:34 am People with history of allergic reactions advised not to have Pfizer Jab.

However, no vaccine is going to be perfect. People have allergic reactions to lots of things. Vaccination program continues....
