So Alex Thomson is officially reired from the race and safely in capetown, Sébastien Simon limping there too with no chance of repairing (to rejoin the race).

Samantha Davies likely to retire unless she can fix the keel well that got damaged by the UFO. (F is for Floating).

Le Cam only 473nm, not bad knowing he's getting a bunch of bonus hours for the rescue.
He had to hide from the storm to repair his sails.

Charlie Dalin has hit a UFO and damaged the port side Foil (I think it's port side).

He is still leading the race but likely to be overtaken tonight.

The foils are not improving this stats however the keel is the most exposed item.

There are companies working on sonars / radars to try and detect containers others trying to get sound devices to scare large sea mammals away.

November 30, 2020; Day 23) – Kevin Escoffier, 40, who is racing in third place in the Vendée Globe solo non-stop around the world race, positioned some 550 nautical miles SW of Cape Town, has triggered his distress beacon. He was racing in a strong SW’ly air stream on starboard tack behind a weather front.

At 1346hrs (UTC), Escoffier managed to send a message to his shore team, explaining that he had an ingress of water into his boat. The rescue authorities (MRCC Cape Town and CROSS Griz Nez) are preparing an action plan in collaboration with his PRB shore team, with Jacques Caraës and the Vendée Globe Race Direction team.

Jean Le Cam, the nearest competitor, has changed course to sail to the last position given by the boat when the beacon was triggered (40°55 S 9°18 E). Le Cam is expected to reach the area at around 1600hrs UTC. More information to follow.

UPDATE:
17:17 – Jean le Cam has arrived in the area and has seen Kevin in his life raft. He is under engine preparing to recover Escoffier.
Phew that is good news, it must be terrifying being stuck in monster seas alone and miles from anyone.

Actually Jean Le Cam Said it's worse if you are searching than if you're being rescued (he was rescued once or twice before)
Escoffier was quite relaxed about it in the video when he was recovered.

Le Cam said the stress is not knowing how the other is as there is no way to communicate (just a beacon).

Roaring 40s in a solo boat is safest place around at the moment. Wouldn’t be surprised if the sailors decided to go around the world twice.

I don't think the boats would last a second go around. they get completely over-holed after this. A lot of the sails are ragged and have been repaired (if not destroyed already)...

Not a fan of Johnny (it's shit actually), Bestaven can't sing so it's a blessing.

Pip Hare fixed her rudder
Clarisse Cremer has a lot of problems
Sébastien Destremau broke more stuff and fixed it.
Manuel Cousin Had pilot issue and this caused mainsail and J3 to rip

The fleet is getting closer but the boats are really suffering.

Crazy stuff outside Brazil with the leader losing 400 Miles of his lead thanks to a cold front.

More of the fleet getting back in the atlantic.

Sébastien Destremau in more trouble at the Tail with a serious looking crack at the front of his boat apparently not structural but scary.

Even closer today, plus Boris H has a 6hours bonus to be calculated at the end.
Besthaven has 10
could end up upside down
Le Cam seems to have lost contact But who knows at this stage.

Fantastic race though has there has been only a few abandons compared to the usual 50% the Imoca are getting very reliable (non foil and even foilers)

Still so tight

For me Boris Herman or Besthaven wil take it due to the time they get back (6 and 10 hours)
with 50Miles and 250 behind at the current speed this puts them 1 and 2
