Moved into house in Hawera, all my stuff in customs somewhere, not likely to see it until New Year. Anyway have bought a android tv to keep me going, but 2 degrees have stuffed up with internet, so only got phone. Question is, if I get a second hand freeview box and plug it into sky ariel, will that let me at least watch free to air until such time as I can get thing sorted?
I ask as a ccharity shop had a couple and I could grab one for bugger all.

if you have a AerialBox T2100/2200/ and a UHF antennae, they should work..

Its NH info, but I think the boxes & methodology are the same, so take with a pinch of salt.

It's not enough to just have a Sky box, to get FTV channels; you need to have an old, compatible Sky card, even if it's expired. It's one of the reasons why there's a thriving market of expired cards on ebay

Just make sure you get the model number off the box before you go looking for a card

Isn't it just a Freeview box rather than a sky box? So no card needed?

Apols, you are correct; I just saw the sky aerial & made the mistake that it was a skybox too.

Ignore me

You're probably sorted now but your connection sounds right. It's been around 10 years since I've even seen FTA tele but I think the only caution is to ensure you have a sat/digital freeview box instead of the terrestrial UHF.
