Broad takes 500 test wickets and a female horse rider comes ahead of him. This country

Why include "Personality" in the title?

Well deserved, everyone else on the list a distant second.
“Facts are meaningless. You could use facts to prove anything that's even remotely true.”
Unless it's a news programme just about everybody who's interviewed has something to sell. It's shameless. And who is the BBC to decide who are suitable candidates for SPOTY?frodder wrote: Mon Dec 21, 2020 8:59 am I switched on to see Rick Astley plugging his latest release. A little strange
Anyone know how many votes Fury got after asking to be excluded from the short-list? Some might say it's a bit arrogant of the BBC to put him on it without telling him beforehand.
It used to be an excellent and fairly serious review of all sports over the previous year, then it became a good review with some razmatazz and stardust sprinkled on for fun. Now it's all stardust with a sprinkling of review here and there, which makes it shallow and not worth watching. What then makes it completely unwatchable are the smug, schmaltzy takes on what should be genuinely great stories that are so overdone that you know the BBC has no soul in it. I would imagine that dealing with Cpt Tom Moore was in that category this year.
Such a shame.

Gary Lineker ruins it for me. He personifies what is wrong with the BBC.
Yeah, Gary Lineker is obnoxious.Kawazaki wrote: Mon Dec 21, 2020 8:48 pmWoddy wrote: Mon Dec 21, 2020 12:08 pm It used to be an excellent and fairly serious review of all sports over the previous year, then it became a good review with some razmatazz and stardust sprinkled on for fun. A world class striker on his day he has always been insufferably smug and projected this polished, golden boy reputation, it makes him unrelatable, at least to me. I always found the praise that he garnered for never having been booked rather silly- there's nothing especially abhorrent about being booked, it can often be indicative of full blooded effort, an honest mistake or a mistimed challenge.

He retired due a sore toe. He's a wet rag.
