The focus is now on checking our gear for some wet sessions. Yesterday we were discussing who was going to use which gaming laptop.( my youngest has a mate over for a play date too. ).
I can't believe we lost 2 months of summer fun.
Holy shit.
Forecast for the weekend is late twenties Saturday and Sunday....Bit windy but that wont stop us...good swell will be running at our spot at 2 metres...

my rash vest has somehow moved from the back of my bakkie to my shirts cupboard...Every day I open my cupboard I would see it and long for a session....its going back......

must just make sure all the wetsuits , booties and flippers are all there....and I can rip the plastic covering off my new board and give it a good test this weekend.....wooo hooo
Just put the gaming laptop in a bag to prevent it getting wet.

I don’t know know how well the drug works after infection and helps you breathe better again - there are several stories about people coming off oxygen out there - but I do know that it has zero effect when used as a vaccine.

Tell your crazy relatives to wait until they test positive first!
Ja it's fokon crazy how people think. I even had an argument with my wife after some of her friends went crazy looking for this shit. It's known to help as treatment but does fokol as prevention. The craze has also caused a shortage and farmers are struggling to get enough for their livestock and when they do get it's at inflated prices.

Social media is a big evil. I know of a town where people "believe" you get 2 kinds, 1 heals and 1 is for prevention. Me, I'll consider it if my doctor says he is using it as well.

average joe wrote: Tue Feb 02, 2021 7:02 am Your news on this is old, it's been found to be effective as a treatment and Sahpra approved its use last week after Afriforum and some medical doctors took them to court for blocking something that's been around from the 1980 and was used extensively in Europe and other parts of the world against covid. The problem is people take it preventatively and because previously it was only cleared for animal use we only had the ones for that purpose and the recommended dosage on the bottle was for cattle that weigh a 1000kg.
It is my understanding that the only thing that was approved was use as part of a registered and controlled medical study to prove efficacy and safety, or lack thereof.
But it is not being advised as a authorised treatment by any medical authority at this point in time...which is what is giving all the conspiracy theorists a massive hardon.
Title: The FDA-approved drug ivermectin inhibits the replication of SARS-CoV-2 in vitro

That's only a hurdle on the road to a proper study. There are thousands of treatments that work in vitro and are abandoned when animal or human trials are performed because the results cannot be replicated.

I'll be happy if Ivermectin actually ends up being an effective treatment. I really will. If we have a vaccine as a preventative measure, and Ivermectin as an effective treatment, we will be able to go back to normal sooner than I thought. But I am skeptical about all these anti-parasitic drugs being punted as Covid cures; seems more like desperation and opportunism than science to me.

I'll wait for my vaccine thanks. And if the study shows ivermectin is effective, I'll happily take it if I get sick and my doc prescribes it.

Sards, seriously.

My grandmother used to say "better to keep your mouth shut and have others think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt".

That's not what science is.

Few are those who see with their own eyes and feel with their own hearts. Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited.
Do you know who said this....definitely not your grandma....my MIL is the same....no imagination...thats why women never voted until they progressed beyond the suppressed views of our grandmothers....

And its not just the suppressed minds of our grandmothers....I know a lot of blokes of people who have absolutely no imagination....
I can listen to what someone says to me , picture it in my mind turn it around in my mind in 3d and see how it can be built or problems that can be in place.... I can even imagine how to bolt it together ......
Try explain that to someone without it and you get a quote like what you posted.

There is science, and there is blind experimentation and intuition. Sometimes the latter leads to results, sometimes it is a dead end, and sometimes it can even cause harm.

Science is a double-blind study with various documented doses of various amounts of Ivermectin administered to an appropriately sized and diverse group of subjects in various experimental and hold-out groups to see if there is a statistically significant POSITIVE impact that has a reasonable probability of being replicated elsewhere if the study is performed within similar parameters.

The problem with anecdotal claims from rural areas is not that they are false or inaccurate necessarily. It is rather that the sample sizes are too small, too homogeneous, that the study was not controlled enough to account for other variables that might also have impacted the results. As a result these studies cannot be replicated and are therefore not considered reliable.

All of these factors end up skewing results and can end up harming people and spread more and more misinformation. Without these standards in place, doctors would still be treating us with leaches, drilling holes in our heads to let out the demons that cause migraines and believe that miasma caused diseases.

Do you wear a mask at your house parties you regularly host? And always keep 1.5 meters away from your mates around the braai? Like hell you do...

I also don't need you to tell me how to take care of my health or protect my immune system during Covid. I've seen pictures of you and you've spent a lifetime not taking care of your body, chubster.

I have a stash of Ivermectin oral 3mg oral for humans. I've read the literature on its side effects, contra-indications etc. I will probably pop them should I get infected. I have an inherited condition which is a bit of a comorbidity. My doc raised his eyebrows when I mentioned it, said "probably wouldn't so you any harm" but wouldn't comment further. Sensible old geezer.

Well thats easy....You can braai...I don't give a fook...I have braai-ed so much in my life I have no issue handing over the tongs....as long as you braai properly...I cant stand meat butchered on the coals....And you can drink....Wine and beer give me gout...like in the very next day and it lasts for a week...so I only drink brandewyn and coke zero....I am very sorry about your choice of teams...there is really nothing I can do about that...but as we kick their arses all the time it wont be me with the issue.....pull in for a kuier dude
Please wear protection okes.

Prevention is social distancing and masks...

Bunch of hypochritical vokkers
Practice what you preach.
What....I wear the vokken masks all the time at work.
Social distancing...no problem...1,5 m ...sorted...take a chill pill girl

so what meds are you taking for protection of your immune system sister...

thats what pisses me off......you all live in fear but do vokkol about it except point fingers at others...

not one of you are making an effort.....We are not supposed to stop living....just take precautions that is all....
Sards, I've been taking Immunace and Vitamin D since March 2020. Always wear my mask in public and try and keep social distancing as far as I possibly can. Come to think of it, I am actually liking the idea of avoiding people, because most of them piss me off anyway. Unfortunately I can't avoid them on the internet. What's the fishing like lately in your neck of the woods?

I don't go fishing much anymore...best sessions are early morning and sunset but you take a huge risk with your vehicle and person unless in a big group.
And I am not feeling it atm...enjoying the beach more than fishing these days....spend more time with my boys and I will never risk their lives in a night fishing session.
Haven't had the itch to go on a boat either...after I sold my last boat I was kinda boat fished out....maintaining that beauty was painful on the pocket.
Rock and surf is still an option and I know some good spots that are fairly safe...but the thought of a 7 year old running around a large chunk of rock protruding out into the sea just does not work for me....you do it to relax...not come home from a session with your neck in knots...
And then theres the 7 year old issue again...I will spend so much time baiting , untying knots , casting etc. that it just wont be a pleasure.
Every year we go for a boys weekend away and the youngest stays home with mom...that's when we get some decent fishing happening...the 12 year olds can bait , tie hooks and cast their own rods.... so you get chill time....
Thinking about an Orange river trip for some fly fishing in May/June....Problem I need to resolve is that the missus wants to go with.....I just cannot see that happening.....so on the backburner till we can sort it out....boys weekends are boys only weekends ffs....but she complains that I always take the boys away for boys weekends on their birthdays and she is never a part of their birthdays........ja well.

Okay boomer.
Just out of interest...along the same lines of what I was suggesting...

"the public has a distorted view of science because children are taught in school that that science is a collection of firmly established truths when it is actually a continuing exploration of mysteries...."

Now this is one of the 5% posts of yours where you actually talk some sense. In my neck of the woods, you have to be at work from 8:00. No boss is going to like if you want to work flexible hours, it does not work like that in the platteland.

I am so over teachers and their holier than thou attitude. Lazy vokkers....my kids did probably 8 weeks of 2 days a week schooling last year......

And they are crying because so many of their colleagues died from Covid.....suck it up buttercup....so did everyone lose people. And I guarantee those infections were from kuier and not from work environment....

As I said...lazy and selfish assholes
