Coincidentally I was watching the Story of Ready Steady Go last night, and she also comes across as a lovely person as well as a great talent.

She was a stunner and had a much better voice than Ross - mind you, she wasn't fucking Berry Gordy.

Some might say Florence Ballard was the best voice. But regardless Diana Ross certainly had the best backing singers of all time and it's a shame the other two didn't quite get their dues and even more tragic at the life path Ballards life took after she left.

The Supremes IMO are the greatest girl group of all time. Huge success, talented and had a great image, backed up by great song writing and a great backing band on their records. I can't recall the base player for their records, but he was rather McCartney like in style and also like McCartney ahead of his time.

RIP Mary Wilson.
