Blimey.
From the 8th -
He has calmed down a bit on the back 9 now and settled the ship a little. Wee Bob from Oban is doing ok though, hitting a few birdies now.ScarfaceClaw wrote: Fri Apr 09, 2021 4:49 pm Rose giving it a bit of the opening day Rory and dropping shots for fun. Fallen back to -4.
Fleetwood’s reaction to his hole in one was pretty non plussed. A Ryder Cup without crowds would be a disasterDogbert wrote: Fri Apr 09, 2021 9:25 am The back nine from Rose was phenomenal , Good to see McIntyre bounce back from 4 successive bogeys to post a respectable 2 over for the day , the chip in at the 17th certainly helped
My only other thoughts after watching the coverage last night was how bloody miserable the players seemed.
Maybe the restriction of the spectators made for a flat atmosphere , but their just seemed a total lack of emotion.
To me Sport , especially watching sport, is all about the emotion , the highs and the lows
It was more like watching a Corporate day out , rather than a major sporting event , maybe I'm just getting old , but the lack of characters in golf these days make for a lesser viewing experience
Great back 9 and he finishes at even for the day. Didn’t see that one coming.dpedin wrote: Fri Apr 09, 2021 5:21 pmHe has calmed down a bit on the back 9 now and settled the ship a little. I’m not sure I have the data allowance for Rory’s efforts.Biffer wrote: Fri Apr 09, 2021 8:49 pm If you go on to the Masters website you can watch every shot every player has played this year.

Yep, I would imagine the first few times he is hacking out sideways he will see the error of his ways. What amazes me is that McIlroy seems to have wrecked his swing seeking to emulate him.Biffer wrote: Sun Apr 11, 2021 8:04 am Can't wait for DeChambeau to try his muscle game around Carnoustie. It'll be hilarious.
He played brilliantly firing in irons from everywhere to within a few feet. He can't possibly play like that again but all he has to do is play solid and the jacket is his!Ymx wrote: Sun Apr 11, 2021 8:09 am Blimey, I missed the last of it last night after the lightning. The Japanese chap must have torn the course a new one to get to that position.
I like the 13th....Biffer wrote: Sat Apr 10, 2021 10:17 pm The drone shots are making the course look even more beautiful than usual.
I think the 12th at Augusta is the most gorgeous golf hole on the planet. Stunning.
Two under from Bob McIntyre today. Great performance.

But a question about the 10th... that huge bunker about 100 yards from the green.. what is the point of it? Never seen anyone in it?
You'd have to be a pretty poor amateur to end up in it too?Sandstorm wrote: Sun Apr 11, 2021 10:05 pmCatches amateurs, not the ProsGrandpa wrote: Sun Apr 11, 2021 10:04 pmI like the 13th....Biffer wrote: Sat Apr 10, 2021 10:17 pm The drone shots are making the course look even more beautiful than usual.

Is that good enough to get him an automatic invite back for next year ?Biffer wrote: Sun Apr 11, 2021 10:32 pm Nobody putting their hand up today, bit of a disappointment.
McIntyre tied for 12th, fantastic first Masters.

24 years old, over $4million in prize money, from only 2 and 1/2 years on tour, and one of those was the pandemic year.
The world golf ranking is odd. He has tied 9th and 12th in the last three weeks at two of the worlds biggest tournaments yet his ranking doesn't change, apparently because he hasn't played in them before so is not gaining or losing points.
He nearly bottled it. But blimey the pressure must be huge.
Luckily for him, Schauffele, Rose, Spieth, Conners, Leishman all bottled it leaving the only pressure to come from a 24 year old rookie. Disappointing that none of them could shoot a 67 / 68 / 69 to make it an exciting day of golf. Rahm shot a 66, so it was possible.
Quite and such a difficult shape to maintainGrandpa wrote: Sun Apr 11, 2021 10:04 pmI like the 13th....Biffer wrote: Sat Apr 10, 2021 10:17 pm The drone shots are making the course look even more beautiful than usual.

Yeah. I can’t believe he didn’t capitalise from Matsu on the 15th. Took the pressure right off him again.Insane_Homer wrote: Mon Apr 12, 2021 8:51 am Really happy for Matsuyama.![]()

15th was a big mistake, Zander let him off at the 16th. Glad I stayed up for it.
Yup hitting first if Xander had come down off the hill on 16 I reckon Hedeki would have hit the all stations panic button!!Ymx wrote: Mon Apr 12, 2021 11:51 amYeah.
