Can't see it. ABs are going to dismantle us. Watching this weekend I felt a lot of pain for Argentina. The AB runners are hard and big and hit the line at pace . The scrum was steady and in comparison the Aussies held our scrum. Lineouts of the ABS was outstanding....

Yeah. Can't see 2 victories at all. Might sneak one
NZ are green. Loosies are novices at test level and Beaudan Barrett (if fit) chokes with a decent rush defence. If not him, then Damian McKenzie will gift you a try or two... The lineout with Taylor and Coles injured.. and no Sam Whitelock looks very shakey... and Weber and TJP are average half backs.. SA have a good chance...
Probably not quite that bad. As the Aussies showed, the lineout is easily fixed — just put Jacobson up the front and throw it to him (although this becomes problematical if Savea is put back at 8 — Ioane might be able to do the lineout job in that case). I don't rate Perenara but he was surprisingly effective at the weekend and Weber has been playing well. At least they don't repeatedly kick the ball away a la Faf. And while B Barrett is no RMo, against Argentina he played as well at 10 as I've seen him do in 5 years. Certainly better than Pollard. So I think the glass is half full...
Don't be so positive... we need to stop SA'n fans from feeling like underdogs...

It's difficult for Canterbury supporters.

I reckon you will this week. You’re often a bit ropey off the plane.
We were too nice. Which is not often what you expect to hear about us.
Every excuse in the book. You lot are desperate to blame anything except the real culprit - your rigid, one dimensional, kick the fucking ball away every fucking time, dull as dishwater game plan.

"But, but...it's in our DNA!!!"
It has been pretty effective for us......................just ask the Poms how it felt in the RWC Final.

Can you quote me, from this forum, where this "it is in our DNA" thingy has bee used?

The interesting thing is we didn't kick that much in the final. It was pretty much won on defence.

Sorry bro, wasn't suggesting it was a direct quote from you; rather a reflection of so many Saffer supporters' defensive responses to any criticism of the Boks' negative style of play, esp. since the Lions series.

It's almost like there's a huge mental block where they're afraid of chancing their arm before just kicking it again and again (Hansen rightly said during the Lions series that neither side wanted to play for fear of losing - reckon it was more an indictment of Gatland's stupidity, but still...). This disappoints the shit out of me (as you can probably tell), as the best Boks sides during my lifetime have had terrific attacking backlines, and knew how to use them.

But you fellas carry on reminiscing about the RWC Final 2 years ago...lots of ostriches in SA...

The Lions series straight after a RWC with no rugby in-between was always going to result in a safe and defensive gamplan.

But if there is anytime to change and grow, it is now. I wouldn't mind if we don't win the RC if we use it as a base to blood new players and expand our gameplan. If not now, when?

So we should start Hershel and Willemse on Saturday.

They deserve a start at some point. So ja, get them on the field and give Grant Williams 20 minutes at the end.

So would you if the All Blacks had won it................or if you could have beaten the Lions. Or Both :spin

Remember that it is the only rugby that we have played due to Covid.

Indeed, it's been a while since we last met. Cannot wait.

But let's not get ahead of ourselves...reckon your guys may have been a little too focussed on the ABs last week, rather than the job at hand - beating the Aussies.

Agree with that. Etzebeth, de Jager and Mostert are the locks, with Snyman joining them after he has recovered.

I would prefer a loose trio of Kolisi, Vermeulen and Du Preez.

Sucks that we'll be without Aaron Smith for the rest of the year.

Double sucks that this would've been the perfect opportunity to blood Fakatava.

With no Safer teams playing in Super Rugby for 2 years now I haven't really followed it, so most of the new / fringe players from Australia and New Zealand are unknown to me.

Whos is this Aaron Smith character? Is he any good?

We feel the same of PSdT. He is the type of player that you only value when he is not in the team anymore.

Why no Aaron Smith coming back?

But yeah. Aaron Smith has been sublime, especially in recent matches.

Fakatava is a freak who had half replaced Smith at the Highlanders until injury struck. He would have been in black this year.

It’s madness to have them in the same Supe team.

Smith's baby is not due until November but he was concerned he would not be able to return home because of the "increasing unlikelihood" of being allocated a spot in hotel quarantine as part of New Zealand's COVID-19 restrictions.
November ??? 2 months from now. And he’s missing the RC!!!

Cocks on blocks lads, do you expect any changes to the team?

For me, we have to get at least one of the Du Preez's in the team. I think Marx is due a start as well and I would put Jantjies/Morne/Frans Steyn on the bench in place of Willemse, just to cover goal kicking.

Faf is more than capable to kick for posts. I'm sure there's other backs that can kick for post as well. It's not that hard, I was a lock and could put some of the easier ones over. When your kicker has a kak day you need to make a call immediately not wait till the 65 min for a replacement.

Exactly....same with any position on the field...if your scrum is getting murdered you replace the weak link....same with flyhalf...but if you don't have a replacement on the bench thats a major problem...

Nobody has said he should be replaced. But we have to find someone who can take shots at goal, as backup to him

When last I played, replacements was for injuries only and many games they would not even get to play. You were considered a very average player if you made the reserves. You cant call up a replacement 20 min into the game because a player is having a kak game, it's stupid and dangerous. Kicking duties like line out duties should be open for any one who can. If a kicker is missing kicks some one ells on the field should be able to step up. Same with a hooker who's missing his darts. I played for a club were the winger threw the ball in at line outs. The hooker was an absolute unit, dominated scrums and the loose but he was a bit quarter past 9 and could for the life of him not throw a straight ball.

What I would love to see was the following lineup:

1 Ox
2 Marx
3 Koch
4 Eben
5 Lood
6 Kolisi
7 JLdP
8 Duane
9 Faf
10 Pollard
11 Mapimpi
12 De Allende
13 Am
14 Fassi (Kolbe still injured?!)
15 Willie

16 Kitshoff
17 Bongi
18 Malherbe
19 Mostert
20 DdP
21 Marco
22 Jantjies
23 Frans Steyn
