Laurie Mains don't rate the Sharks players. Well I was wrong about the Bok bounce back against the Wallabies... so I have to assume they are keeping their powder dry for the All Blacks...
Rassie is cunning. I can't imagine he won't have the Boks fully psyched for this game... beat the All Blacks, even once and the season is a success...

Is this the same Laurie Mains that was such a kak coach of the Golden Lions or Cats? The 3/4s have been shit because the coaches have shackled them. Am and Mapimpi are the only Bok backs who regularly score tries. Our first receivers are often props and locks FFS. By the time the wings get the ball the oppo defence is ready and waiting.
Rassie isn't with them at the moment, he's back in SA. Which I believe has also been a contributing factor to our lackluster display.Grandpa wrote: Mon Sep 20, 2021 9:30 am Well I was wrong about the Bok bounce back against the Wallabies... so I have to assume they are keeping their powder dry for the All Blacks...

But if I'm honest with myself I guess he is right. Mapimpi seems to have lost a bit of potency. Am has lots of great touches but is not breaking the line at all. Sbu still has a lot of upside I reckon. Unfortunately as long as Kolbe is there he won't get the chance.FalseBayFC wrote: Mon Sep 20, 2021 9:30 am Is this the same Laurie Mains that was such a kak coach of the Golden Lions or Cats? All of those players are world class. During the Lions series, Am cemented his position as the best 13 in the world.FalseBayFC wrote: Mon Sep 20, 2021 9:47 am But if I'm honest with myself I guess he is right. The few times Mapimpi gets the ball, he is completely swamped. Little effort is being made to put him into space, perhaps because we're not used to the ball being shifted down the line.
They didn't all lose form overnight but played like shit for the last two weeks.
We need Squidge Rugby to do an analysis. Perhaps that's what Nienaber is waiting on.

our centres dont run any lines except for straight into the opposition.....I've live this abonimation for years
the kick chase is non existent because its too deep and we end up defending...its a shitshow

Kolbey still injured. We are stuck with Nkosi.

Our national team's failings reflect an illness that pervades rugby from schoolboy level all the way up. We haven't discarded the archaic military model of top down decision making I remember so well from my days in the SADF. The brass micro-managing everything and having blue-prints and manuals for every last action and behaviour of the troepies.Chilli wrote: Mon Sep 20, 2021 10:49 amJunkies was crap.

Its both our strength and weakness. Our kids emerge from school with an unbelievable work ethic and discipline. Amazing athletes doing everything their coaches tell them to. But when I look at many of the Boks them they seem almost childlike. They parrot the same Christian dogma, devoid of any personality. They come across as fearful and unimaginative.
Standard practice in any military is to put new recruits through an intensive process aimed at instilling "standards and discipline". Break down the individual so that he doesn't question authority. This is done to our kids in the sporting context from the get go. While it has its merits I fear that the zeal with which it is applied in SA means that our youngsters emerge with very little spirit or energy to express themselves. This is very evident in our rugby right now.

Boet I think you take it a bit too military. Those days are long gone.
The last intake was 30 - 40 years ago.

I just missed it. I was severely bullied in primary school but by the time I got to standard 6 people knew to just leave me the fok alone. Spent some time in Kimberly and we had Dakbewooners. These troops would get zolled and then climb into the roofs of the bungalows and sleep on the asbestos insulation under the zinc sheets and it's fokken hot in Kimberly. Hiding away all day. They'd only come out for roll call or at night for food and they were always thin and very pale with red eyes.average joe wrote: Tue Sep 21, 2021 6:13 amI just missed it.
