That’s not a bad idea. A point for the fastest lap of the drivers in the points. Would stop that farcical you’re in last place, have a smash at a fast lap.fishfoodie wrote: Sun Nov 07, 2021 9:48 pmAnother thing that has made races like this so boring; is the rooms full of strategists back at base; running thru simulations, on what will happen if you come in this lap, or in five laps time ...ScarfaceClaw wrote: Sun Nov 07, 2021 9:24 pm Aside from the first corner, that was a pretty dull race.
If you just had a couple of blokes with stop watches on the pit wall; you'd have a lot more unpredictability; & drivers getting dropped into worse positions on the track; & having to overtake to get back to position.
Bottas coming in twice to deny Max the fastest lap, was particularly ridiculous too.I don't think that kind of spoiling crap, adds to the race. If you aren't in the top ten, you don't get to take a point off a driver who is in the top ten.

How about a point for the driver who makes the most overtakes of the day; regardless of their final position ?
Encourage the thing we're all asking for !
So a point for the old guy in a shit car on hard tyres. Yawn.fishfoodie wrote: Sun Nov 07, 2021 10:24 pmI'll go one betterScarfaceClaw wrote: Sun Nov 07, 2021 10:03 pmThat’s not a bad idea. Sprint race underway. Hamilton penalised for a dodgy rear wing. Bottas makes a great start and takes first.

Verstappen has a load of pace and catching Bottas. Coverage focusing on Hamilton for the most part. He’s up to 9th so providing most of the overtakes/excitement in the race.

Hamilton all over Verstappen. Looking like a Hamilton win coming soon.
Not a fan of the DRS - the slipstream on its own is enough for overtakes.ScarfaceClaw wrote: Sun Nov 14, 2021 5:48 pm Hamilton all over Verstappen. Looking like a Hamilton win coming soon.

Not sure how it relates to my post, but I quite agree that Max's facial hair is poor.

Cars can't get close enough to exploit the slipstream. Dirty air.

Massive drama all weekend,
5 drip drop for Engine change
back of grip for tech failure
sprint race
last to first
fines for touching cars
fines for not wearing seatbelts (Steward x-mas party is now covered)
No sanction for pushing a driver off the track (should've been a 5 sec time pen)
Swearing, gestured
Twitter F1 goes fucking nuts
and Ham P1, Max P2 is what were going to get anyway. Thank fuck for all the manufactured drama rescuing what would otherwise have a boring as shit race.

The Engine penalty is now a complete joke.
Merc can now change engines at will; knowing that the advantage of a zero miles engine is worth way more than the 5 place penalty.

Twitter has certainly revealed plenty of Dutch racists.

Verstappen lucky with pushing Hamilton wide.
Springboks, Stormers and WP supporter.
Masi is a joke, "they both ran wide" my arse
Horner said the same thing when asked. I was disappointed that nobody pointed out that Hamilton was only wide to avoid hitting Verstappen. I was also annoyed that nobody thought to reference Silverstone to demonstrate what the driver on the outside can do to avoid contact if the driver on the inside is not on the apex. Of course Hamilton got a 10-second for Silverstone whereas Verstappen got nothing.

Probably says more about you and the people you follow, I follow quite a few motor racing & F1 accounts and haven't seen anything that amounts outright 'hate' or racist.Kawazaki wrote: Tue Nov 16, 2021 10:59 am The hate for Lewis Hamilton really is something to behold on Twitter.

Anyway, Crofty and Sky F1 have now found and posted the Max onboard video, but I can't seem to play it now. From the comments I gather Max wheel wasn't turning too much to avoid pushing Lewis wide.

I've thought for a while now that Horner, Marko and Newey must be under huge pressure from Dietrich Mateschitz to win at least one of the championships. It's been 8 years since Red Bull have won a championship and in that time, at a conservative estimate, Horner will have spent at least $3.5bn. At the start of the hybrid era they went all in with Newey's high-rake concept and stuck with it despite Mercedes winning year after year with the lwb/low-rake concept. Add to that the way Horner has managed engine suppliers and partner drivers to Verstappen and you can easily imagine that Mateschitz must be wondering if his executive leadership team are the right men to deliver results as F1 transitions into a new rules era. It's also worth noting that Horner really is not well liked at all on social media which, given the prime reason for RBR existing at all is to market fizzy drinks, can't have a positive impact on sales.

If they put those, "dismantler", kerbs on all the tracks, they wouldn't need to bollix about with track limits every weekend.

Dad just texted me to say Frank Williams has passed. Sad day. Have so many childhood memories wrapped into those late 80s, early 90s Williams teams. Was at the 91 & 92 British GP when Mansell mania was at its peak.
Watched his documentary last year and he was such a tough, dogged bloke who kept going despite all the odds being stacked against him in his early days of racing.
RIP Frank.
