Really? The fireworks were going intermittently late into the night but didn’t realise it was anything like that

Remember the total farce down the Thames, Milennium time. Sydney urinated all over it.

I've walked over the bridge.

Glad to hear that. Hate being beaten. I'm involved with the end of year display here. We do a display to loud music. It's spectacular for such a small Town. Thanks to the School.

The computer tech is just amazing.

Just on the dog front. The advice is to do nothing, as though it was part of the scenery. Never had a problem.

You can't ban fireworks purely for dogs. However, they should ban those large car-bomb type fabrications.

My dog did alright for most of the night, but once a few of those bombs went off, he was getting freaked out. I imagine they'd do some damage as well if close to vehicles, buildings (let alone people).

Fireworks should be pretty in the sky, not make the windows shake.

Why didn't you just say ONLY fireworks and dogs are off limits?
Impale anyone who puts Christmas decorations up first week of Novrmber. Was in Birmingham on Thursday and Friday and they have a massive Christmas market in full flow.

And that most U.K. citizens, regardless of religion, celebrate the Christmas holidays

Yeah, covers a fair old area though, so I can well imagine us having very different experiences. I'm pretty close to Haslemere.

I’m halfway between the two of you. Didn’t seem as noisy this year - like distant thunder. The numbers going down to Chidd were pretty big though, so still popular. Even quite a few dogs going (happily).

They started at midday near me and pretty much continued until 2am this morning. Nothing yet so far today but expect it will start up again at dark. That will be 4 days in a row.

If there were 99 religions and 98 represented 1% and Christians 2%, you'd still be correct.

Fireworks (in the UK) should be organised displays only, whether Guy Fawkes, Diwali, Royal occasions or anything else.

Too many accidents/too much mischief with privately purchased fireworks.

Dog welfare, in towns at least, doesn’t come into it. There have been numerous constantly barking dogs in my neighbourhood and it’s getting worse. Loads of complaints. And that’s without the dog attacks and terrified children. And without the dog mess on the pavements and in the parks.

A local solicitor friend tells me that most destruction orders in the local mags court are for staff bull terriers. Lordy, they’re horrible looking dogs. And v common round my area.

Those fvcking dogs should not be pets. Horrible looking and nasty things built in to their make up. Usually owned by nasty chav owners, or by dumb idiots who think their dog is the exception.

I normally invite the family around on Nov 5th to watch the stunning (it really is, you ought to see it, it is like fireworks are going off 6 feet from my flat) firework display outside my window. Very disappointing this year.

Seems like Brexit has fucked this too.

I couldn't get my son to sleep on Friday because of a big and very close display that started (and was a surprise to us) at a new venue bang on his bedtime. He was much happier when we took him up to the second floor for an amazing view of it.

Next year we'll invite friends around to (drink and) watch. Must be one of the benefits of Brexit. Or of Covid. Display can't have started for amy other reason.

Halloween; not Guy Fawkes is the fireworks occasion in Ireland; on account of our nearest neighbours importing shit loads.....
