Well he seems an appalling individual, but too for the media to interview someone so involved with such a brutal incident so close to said incident and whilst seemingly heavily under the influence and then publish it is problematic. Perhaps there'd never be a moment when he'd appear sober, but this seems more about shock than consideration

That's the thing about the Constitution. States aren't meant to go against it.
Now, you may well disagree with the SC's interpretation of the Constitution - many do - but upholding the Constitution is not a case of trampling over states rights.

I saw a graphic the other day that showed the prevalence of mass shootings compared to restrictive gun laws on a state-by-state basis, unsurprisingly those with the least restrictive laws had a far greater number of mass murders. I can't find that chart right now, but I did find this from a paper published in the BMJ
Abstract
Objective To determine whether restrictiveness-permissiveness of state gun laws or gun ownership are associated with mass shootings in the US.
Design Cross sectional time series.
Setting and population US gun owners from 1998-2015.
Exposure An annual rating between 0 (completely restrictive) and 100 (completely permissive) for the gun laws of all 50 states taken from a reference guide for gun owners traveling between states from 1998 to 2015. Gun ownership was estimated annually as the percentage of suicides committed with firearms in each state.
Main outcome measure Mass shootings were defined as independent events in which four or more people were killed by a firearm. Data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Uniform Crime Reporting System from 1998-2015 were used to calculate annual rates of mass shootings in each state. Mass shooting events and rates were further separated into those where the victims were immediate family members or partners (domestic) and those where the victims had other relationships with the perpetrator (non-domestic).
Results Fully adjusted regression analyses showed that a 10 unit increase in state gun law permissiveness was associated with a significant 11.5% (95% confidence interval 4.2% to 19.3%, P=0.002) higher rate of mass shootings. A 10% increase in state gun ownership was associated with a significant 35.1% (12.7% to 62.7%, P=0.001) higher rate of mass shootings. Partially adjusted regression analyses produced similar results, as did analyses restricted to domestic and non-domestic mass shootings.
Conclusions States with more permissive gun laws and greater gun ownership had higher rates of mass shootings, and a growing divide appears to be emerging between restrictive and permissive states.
The Supreme Court doesn't operate in a vacuum, the nominations to it are highly politicised and they are not some "neutral interpreters" of the Constitution.

I’m not sure he is really that ‘close’ to the incident. He left the mother soon after his son was born and has been estranged from him for years. The ‘Conservative Mormon Republican’ also happens to be a meth-addict and former porn star with multiple convictions for a variety of offences.
This story is nothing to do with the shooting; it’s simply that some ‘journalist’ realised there was a family connection between the shooter and a minor celebrity famous for being a complete fuck-up and realised they could probably get some juicy quotes out of talking to the meth addict.

Not a mass shooting, just a six year old boy shooting his female teacher. Said to be deliberate and happened after an altercation between the two. Teacher is in a critical condition. Surely it's time to start arming the teachers and allow them to fight back.

Sorry. But what an inane and stupid statement.
Can you imagine the scenario and how it would be perceived if an adult teacher and a 6yr old had a Mexican standoff with loaded weapons and the teacher shoots first.
The gun culture in the US and the fucking stupid parents, who somehow let a 6 yr old have access to a loaded handgun, and managed to take it into school. The mindset of that household must be certifiable..

It's for SELF DEFENSE! You have to give your teachers a fighting chance. In this case the teacher was already at a disadvantage being a woman (as most primary school teachers are) and a larger target than the six year old.

Children are also particularly dextrous so in a quick draw Mcgraw scenario the 6 year old would be blowing the smoke from the barrel before the teacher had started looking in their handbag. For this reason open carry is vital for pre and primary school teachers
Don't forget that the 6 year old also has the advantage of being a smaller target.

Surely at the start of each lesson teachers should shoot a random kid in the class as a pre-emptive strike.. to show they shouldn't be mucked around with?

Murdoch is a dirty cunt and directly responsible for much of the mess in the West. Look at the 1920's and the Teapot Dome scandal. A member of the cabinet went to prison. We are so drowned in scandal and bombarded with shit in the media it would hardly make a ripple these days.
There aren't many people whose death i would celebrate but Murdoch is one of them.

The child's greatest advantage is that it would take a seriously sick f*ck to shoot a six year old. I think the 99.9% majority of teachers just couldn't do it even in a Mexican stand off.

Tasers vs Guns, not a good idea
Ideally for a CQB environment you'd want the teacher to have a PCC (provided the student is not wearing body armour) but for practical purposes any wonder nine would have to do
