After the Jaryd Hayne and Zach Guildford incidents there seemed to be a concerted effort to deflect, hide the evidence, suppress names. Team mates coming out with supporting tweets, all sorts of pathetic excuses. Lions full back Tiaan Swanepoel was accused of assaulting a pregnant woman in January, hasnt been much news on the case since the first hearing and he continues to play.
In the latest news a prominent international rugby player is involved in an alleged assault of a woman. If he's found guilty he must be chucked out forever.

Isn't the racist a former Highlander? Yeah I didn't want to mention his name because of the weird NZ name supression thing
No place in the game, or society, for domestic abusers.
I completely missed that Tiaan Swanepoel incident. What a weird and bizarre story ! I honestly don't know what to make of it, other than being grateful that the baby was born and seems fine.
When these cases pop up with younger players, it's easy for me to just attribute it to them being violent scumbags, but I really do have concerns about older players. With the recent stories about retired players, CTE, dementia and depression, I fear that we are probably going to see a rise in domestic assault reports involving some former players

This is the first I've heard of it.Blake wrote: Thu May 13, 2021 7:53 am No place in the game, or society, for domestic abusers.

I'm a bit cautious about these stories these days as it's only an allegation at this stage. These days people are very quick to judge but lose interest as the story develops. If he's guilty then by all means throw the book at him, but at this point it's hard to say what happened.
Reminds me of the Eben incident in 2019. People were calling for his axing, the human rights commission got involved, and in the end it fizzled into nothing .
Indeed. Same with the Tiaan Swanepoel incident. I initially though he was accused by his pregnant wife/girlfriend of domestic abuse, but now it seems it was a random incident where the pregnant lady caused a collision in a parking lot, was verbally and physically assaulted in a road rage incident? Swanepoel denies all the accusations and is substantiated by a passenger. The victim / accuser has zero evidence of any of the claims...no CCTV, no other witnesses...it's a tough one. Still ugly whichever way you look at it.assfly wrote: Thu May 13, 2021 8:14 amThis is the first I've heard of it.Blake wrote: Thu May 13, 2021 7:53 am No place in the game, or society, for domestic abusers.
