Wordle

The one puzzle a day format is refreshing...it leaves you wanting more without binging.
Anyone else into it?

Thanks for the link. I first heard about Wordle last week but couldn't find the original. The app stores are predictably flooded with copies with ads.
p.s got the first one correct on 4th attempt!

I saw this game last week, but I've only just played it now.
There's now way I can get into that, I would be looking up as many sites as I could, logging in with different accounts, losing days to it. I did that with Sudoku.
It's why I've never done gaming apart from playing the kids' Mario Kart once in a while

I do it every morning now and I really enjoy it. I'm purposely avoiding reading about the best ways to solve it using statistics etc. I prefer just to bung any 5 letter word in.
That's kinda the joy of this one: it's one-and-done for the day. Everyone gets the same word every day.Tichtheid wrote: Mon Jan 17, 2022 8:43 am I saw this game last week, but I've only just played it now.

Despite being on a UK domain name they use Yank spelling though

Today's was a bit annoying, took me way too many tries

I'm stuck. Can anyone help me with this one?
Please don't do that again.
It's been already snipped for me, apols, was weak joke about rude word. Will not do again. Well, won't post any spoilers, will obviously post weak jokes about rude words.

I love games like this, more logic than simple recall.
(Apols again for posting, didn't register the bit where everyone gets same word for the day)

I have green and yellow, as do most posts I've seen from others sharing their results. Green is correct, yellow is included and out of place and grey tiles are not included. My phone keyboard also darkens the irrelevant letters while 'awarding' colour status.Openside wrote: Mon Jan 17, 2022 3:29 pm I stupidly clicked into game without reading the instructions are grey tiles that letter is not in the word and blue tiles that they are the right letter in the right place?
Have you got your settings switched to colour blind mode?

Yeah a good starting word is one with lots of vowels and no repeats. It's often good to go for completely different letters for the second word even if you have a few matches in the first wordpaddyor wrote: Mon Jan 17, 2022 3:48 pm Someones hacked it. You start with the same word every day and you should get there in about goes. there's charts that can get you there in 3 goes for many of them

You can have double letters as I found out to my cost the other day - no obvious way of finding out eitherYmx wrote: Mon Jan 17, 2022 8:30 pm How does it work if the same letter appears more than once? The colour system doesnβt seem to support that? So is it always 5 different letters?

No. It does use double letters - how does the system not support it? "Truss" has been one answer.Ymx wrote: Mon Jan 17, 2022 8:30 pm How does it work if the same letter appears more than once? The colour system doesnβt seem to support that? So is it always 5 different letters?
And paddyor, the following starting word is slightly better

Looks like it, new puzzle in 3 hrs 20 mins here in UK..CM11 wrote: Mon Jan 17, 2022 8:27 pm So it seems to tick over at midnight in your time zone? Because I think I just accidentally spoiled tomorrow's one for myself by looking at a spoiler above.
Oh well. With my memory I might have forgotten it by tomorrow.
I love watching little children running and screaming, playing hide and seek in the playground.
They don't know I'm using blanks..

Nope, it can be the same letter twice, but as you say the colour system won't reveal that.Ymx wrote: Mon Jan 17, 2022 8:30 pm How does it work if the same letter appears more than once? The colour system doesnβt seem to support that? So is it always 5 different letters?

That's the only "catch" as far as I can tell...
Yep, some of my favourite starting words covering multiple vowels:Happyhooker wrote: Mon Jan 17, 2022 8:40 pmNo. It does use double letters - how does the system not support it? How doesn't it show that? It takes every letter separately. If it's in the correct place, it's green, incorrect, yellow. No, it doesn't tell you that there's another letter the same, but why should it.Gumboot wrote: Mon Jan 17, 2022 8:42 pmNope, it can be the same letter twice, but as you say the colour system won't reveal that.Ymx wrote: Mon Jan 17, 2022 8:30 pm How does it work if the same letter appears more than once? And yes, it ticks over to a new one at local midnight
