Enjoyed this. Not sure it directly translates to rugby, but it strikes me as much more effective than most recruitment campaigns. Sticking a sign on a roundabout or a post on a facebook group must have a miniscule success percentage.
Edit:
The guy handing out the leaflets at the station:

A quick google suggests they have a stunning ground and they clearly have a sense of humour. Suspect they'll get plenty of takers.

I think putting yourself out there has to be a key component. My experience is:Niegs wrote: Tue Apr 26, 2022 3:30 pm That's brilliant having the lad out there in his kit!
Maybe we should put someone out at the mall on a Saturday? Look for those dads and mums who're clearly not having a fun day.
1) A staggering amount of people interested in [delete activity here] have no real idea that there's a club/society for it in their local area.
2) A lot of people (understandably) are reluctant to join something new through clicking a link then turning up to training/a social etc on their own as billy no mates. Having a contact, even someone who you had a brief conversation with at say the mall, I think is massively helpful to getting new recruits over the line.
3) I think they've been very smart there in how they've targeted their audience. They've clearly worked out that they want probably slightly older blokes who were never great and like a pint, and have gone straight after them. The generic 'all standards welcome' fools no one, and I think this is even more important in rugby where plenty of clubs are pretty cold houses for genuinely poor social players.
