Woke up for by now customary pee at 6am and turned the radio on to discover Aussie Grand Prix was on. Started listening but quickly fell asleep again, thankfully. Woke up an hour later to hear it was still going ... just. Fell asleep again and woke up for third time and the fecker was still going, although it wasn't really going but stopped for a crash. By this point it was after 8am so decided to get up and have a quick shower. Got out of shower and it was still on the feckin radio. I am sorry any F1 aficionados but this was just plain shit and boring. However on the bright side I now know a lot about F1 rules and regulations ... 5 second penalties and all that. Makes rugby rules as complicated as a game of snap. Can't remember who won.

I never gave cycling a 2nd look until about 7 years ago when I wasn’t working and ended up watching Le Tour because I was bored. Utterly captivated now, 2nd only in my favourite events to the 6N, and pushes it close

I was the exact same until Le Tour 2020. I'd say cycling pips rugby atm for me. No whinging about refs, red cards etc. Plus there's Orla and her lovely outfits

I have a couple hundred bits of track, and 20 vehicles, vintage 75-85 so pre Pro & magnets. Sadly much of the track is rusty and fit for the bin , but I’m also laying out a big track on the covered patio one the weather gets less shit . Holding a power slide , and having crashes and jumps , is way more fun with scalectrix than in real life.

All my cars are pre magnet.. Still finding lumps of blue tac I used to try and balance the weight in them, and also got my 6 wheeled Tyrrell....

There was another 6 wheeler from the F1 set iirc circa 1981, usual scalectrix way of taking a real car shell, and painting it in a made up green and white livery.
I had a blue and white race car that was a clone of 1978 ferrari, and a red and black one that was a clone of a 1981 Renault turbo.

Re the balancing, I had a blue Tyrell f1 car mid 70’s that had a narrow rear track, with big tyres, and was utterly impossible to drive
We put some washers in the nose to try and keep it on the track , and it ended up an utter slug that I could beat in a mini that had a small motor (if you recall they had large and small motors back then, with the exposed coils. The sealed motors came later)

Timezone means I rarely watch live now but I'm catching as much as I can... we are watching a generation of greats fighting each other. This Spring Classics season has been sensational.
