Brutal 'rucking'. Kiwi refs really didn't give a toss on that tour did they.

Thanks for posting that. I was at every match on that tour but have seen hardly any footage.

Stuart Barnes got smashed in the head about 25 times on that tour.

Explains a bit about what is wrong with him today.

I was at the North Harbour game, when Dean Richards "rucked" Bunce's head open.

We met a guy and his wife in a bar after that game who put 10 of us up, including dinner, breakfast, lift to the game(shared between his neighbours) for the final test. Incredible memories

Imagine the number of red cards if a modern day ref was reffing those games...

Dawson gets absolutely fucked up continuously
Could you imagine the match thread and post match Rassie video if that match happened nowadays!?

The hit on Dawson was absolutely brutal. Would be a 10 match ban today, play on back in 02.

The actual red card offence was probably one of the more tame late tackles on the day!

I'm pretty sure 2:03 is where Lee Byrne learnt to compete for the high ball and get away with it

There'd be multiple law suits for that lot today. You can see why old guys say the game has gone soft.

So thjnking that 80 minutes of dubious entertainment, is not really worth peoples brains being mushed and them occupying wards for 79 year olds..is now woke?

The human cost of Rugby isn't worth it, but hey glad the heavy impacts (even knowing what we know now)still gets you all off.

"Christ he won't remember where he put his car keys, or his daughters names after that".

I thought most people are saying how much cleaner the game is now? Even if we still aren't happy... it shows how far we have come even in the last 20 years... and how far we will get to in the next 20?
