Watching last night the last episode of Chasing the Sun bring back aal those memories and to actually know now what happened at the background makes it even better.
The Springbokke were so well prepared , no team would beat them on the day.
We are lucky to keep the coaching staff bar a few. They will take us to places.

Honestly, after 5 min I knew that we would win...assfly wrote: Mon Nov 02, 2020 11:39 am When did it hit you lads that we'd won?
Although Kolbe's try clinched it, it was the engraving that got me. Completely lost the plot in the pub.
Ja that first scrum certainly changed my attitude early.
I was at the stadium and it was pretty obvious from quite early in the match that the Bokkie were going to win. Two English lads seated beside me bought their flights and tickets after the semi finals and were seriously gutted at the way their team was bossed around but they cheered loud and hard for the SA at the end.

That, and latest when youngs threw that pass to nobody into touch. There was no way we were losing that game. So no surprise in the end. What a game!

Thats why I love Rugby! Great story, cool that you were there.
When Sinckler went off, I knew we had them up front for the rest of the match...unless they reverted to uncontested scrums like Italy did.assfly wrote: Mon Nov 02, 2020 11:39 am When did it hit you lads that we'd won?

I was genuinely worried they would go that route and we'd lose our primary scrum weapon. Glad they didn't.

Hardly the Boks fault NZ weren't good enough to make the final

Good man.Jb1981 wrote: Mon Nov 02, 2020 5:38 pm That year has gone fast. It was a comprehensive victory and a fun game to watch for a “neutral” who was cheering the Springboks from the first whistle.

Great win that was...really put England away.
Rewatched it today after watching Chasing the Sun
So many highlights
Marx made quite an impact, had a hand in both tries
Sous coming on and tackling everything that moves
Duane is made of granite - if it wasn't for him I'm not sure we would have kept them out when they were camped on our line late in the first half
Am's face when he chased that kick from Mapimpi - he knew that was the game

That's a good point. All the whining about kyle sinkler going down... two of our player had to leave the field, and those who came on were arguably better. The depth in that squad was/is amazing. Marx and even more so Mostert were the unsung heros of that final imo.Cartman wrote: Tue Nov 03, 2020 8:20 pm Rewatched it today after watching Chasing the Sun

Mostert is a very underrated player. Allround skills, not the power of Eben, RG or Lood, but I have never seen him play a bad game or a game where he was quiet.boere wors wrote: Wed Nov 04, 2020 7:24 amThat's a good point. Marx was utilised well of the bench, I feel his line out throwing was not as good as Bongi and maybe he got a bit complacent.
Springboks, Stormers and WP supporter.
