One of those players that doesn’t look like he’s ever had to really work for his success because of his gifts, so never developed any skills or discipline and then got a massive shock when he hit the professional level of his sport.
I hope his stint if France helps him develop as a player and that he can reach his potential. If he doesn’t, he has nobody to blame but himself.

You are getting Gerbrandt GROBLER from the Stade, same height and weight, even exchange.boere wors wrote: Fri Jul 16, 2021 5:46 pmYep, no need to read between the lines...handyman wrote: Fri Jul 16, 2021 2:18 pmYes the comments from the ceo is quite clear.assfly wrote: Fri Jul 16, 2021 1:15 pm That's a bit of a shock and a shame, but I wonder if we're offloaded a liability.
Seemed full of promise, but he's obviously been stuffing his face full of pies the last few months.
Stade Francais will be a shock for him. If he makes it past the first year, then I wouldn't be surprised to see him in a French jersey soon.
Also can't blame the lad considering what's happening on his doorstep.likewise his answer, though:
Commenting on his move, Van der Mescht said: “... I am really excited to move on and play in France and learn from new coaches and players that will make me a better player.”
Very experienced compared to JJ...Marylandolorian wrote: Tue Jul 27, 2021 4:55 pmYou are getting Gerbrandt GROBLER from the Stade, same height and weight, even exchange.boere wors wrote: Fri Jul 16, 2021 5:46 pmYep, no need to read between the lines...likewise his answer, though:

JJ can be a beast....if he can get into shape...sad to lose him. Maybe he didn't like the team and coaches because they told him to lose some weight. Some people can be very sensitive about that. And I am sure his team mates would never think to tease him.....like " oink oink " etc.

Similar for Glasgow but will need hotel
Can't be arsed getting to Swansea, but maybe if I can rope in an Ulster friend in from out west who also hates Ospreys. One of the Welsh teams though
Great to get to Italy for a game

Sharks alumnus and former Glenwood boy JJ van der Mescht being an alpha dog in the French league. He'll gain some experience and conditioning and then come back to the Sharks in due time.

He looks even chunkier than when he left. He even has the back of the head fat now like Kobus Wiese. Still backing him to partner RG Snyman one day. Would be a savage combo.assfly wrote: Thu Sep 23, 2021 8:23 am That is an incredible photo, considering who he is throwing to the ground.
Best of luck to him. Still looks to be carrying a fair bit of timber, I would love to see what he can do if he can get into better shape.

Sharks have signed Oakdale, Matie and Junior Bok loosehead Dian Bleuler. Looks like he will be replacing Mzamo Majola who may be heading overseas.
He's 22 years old and has made 7 appearances for the Stormers this year. I didn't think much of Majola. He was a homegrown KZN boy but Bleuler looks a better prospect.

I'm going no-fap until I get positive confirmation on this one. Make it happen

Look, the only thing is Lood's habit of getting shoulder injuries. Apart from that, super buy. Seems a great guy as well.FalseBayFC wrote: Fri Nov 05, 2021 8:10 amI'm going no-fap until I get positive confirmation on this one. Make it happen.

Bleuler is a good prospect. Sad to lose him
It has been a long time since we've had a world-class lock. Probably the position we need to spend the most on.handyman wrote: Fri Nov 05, 2021 7:58 am Saaks fans must be absolutely crazy about that. Trying to talk up their powderpuff locks have become tedious.

$harks going back to their roots by poaching Freestate boys.

Lood was born in Alberton, schooled at Hugenote High in Springs. He's as Free State as Patrick Lambie. He's spent 3 of his 29 years in the FS. If anything he was poached first by the Vrystaters who are just too poor to retain their poached players. They should find a sugar daddy to sort that out.Chilli wrote: Fri Nov 05, 2021 2:06 pm$harks going back to their roots by poaching Freestate boys.

So which one is it?
The place where the player was born
The place where the player went to primary school
The place where the player went to high school
The place where the player went to university
The player's first club
The place where the player made his name

I tend to pick the one that suits my parochial bitching the best. Usually when my team is being thumped or at risk of being thumped. Or when I'm feeling bitter and envious of say the English or Kiwis doing well at the cricket World Cup. I can attempt to asterisk their success by pointing out that there are Saffers who are doing all the heavy lifting.
All of the above when it comes to the Freestate!assfly wrote: Sun Nov 07, 2021 8:39 amSo which one is it?

Any player that has ever become something that spent any time in the Freestate is from the Freestate. Even if it was just because he stopped at the Engine One-Stop on the N1 in Bloem for a pie and coke on his way to the Cape

Are you any good? If not, you're not from the Freestate. You're just a passer by like that Piet van Zyl guy that played for the Bulls.

If you think about how many black players are leaving WP and coming to the Sharks and becoming successful you wonder whether there is a color issue there. Maybe that's the issue Nienaber has with Fassiassfly wrote: Wed Nov 10, 2021 12:32 pm It's quite remarkable how Kolisi's form has turned around since joining the Sharks.
