1. Start with vowel-heavy word
1.1 Start with a word with popular consonants (t, n, s, h, r, d)

2. Second guess tries to locate position of yellow tiles with new word including any green tiles.
2.1 Second guess uses new word with no letters from first guess.

3. Third guess tries to locate position of yellow tiles with new word including any green tiles.
3.1 Third guess tries to locate position of yellow tiles with new word including any green tiles.

Re 2.1, I play it on the hard mode so you have to use all the green/yellow letters you get on every turn

I never knew there was a hard mode but I tend to always play it that way anyway.

There are occasions where it might be useful to eliminate any other vowels or common consonants in, say, word 2 which might be tricky if you have to use the letters identified in word 1.

I guess. In a game where the words were longer, I can see that being useful. But a 5 letter, 6 chance format seems much less so.

In general you are right. Hard mode conditions you to play in a way that's actually beneficial to you.

I have three starter words that I use. No pattern to it, just a random choice each day.

Todays nearly beat me… I’m at work and started playing in the lunch room while talking. Not a good plan…

Aye, I play hard mode too. Slightly disappointed that it still allows you to include letters previously identified as not being part of the word. But not disciplined enough to limit myself voluntarily.

I guess I’m doing that by default. Haven’t set hard mode, I just play it that way anyway.

I’m O, 1, 2, 3, 2, 1 from my 9 so far. Quite normative distribution. Was 0, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1 after my first 5 which looked quite cool on their bar chart.

Don’t use any starter words or any particular tactics yet, no doubt to my detriment.
