Because Scousers too busy getting p*ssed before the game to arrive on time resulting in mass rush at last minute.Ymx wrote: Sat May 28, 2022 7:41 pm I don’t have bt, but just reading the updates.
Delayed - big queues - crowd trouble - tear gas
Is that right??
Mixed messaging about the pre-game issues from what I can see. There are plenty that suggest mismanagement at the stadium in some way - although maybe that is just the fans’ perspective. There are people talking about being there hours in advance but still having these problems.
Liverpool look the better team so far but Real have a way of finding a goal.

Sounds like typical EU regulations to me.Jb1981 wrote: Sat May 28, 2022 8:55 pm There are plenty that suggest mismanagement at the stadium in some way - although maybe that is just the fans’ perspective. There are people talking about being there hours in advance but still having these problems.

How long can they keep them out?
Well done RM
I’ve seen three football matches in the last four or five years, two of them were RM’s games v Man City and now this, outplayed twice in everything but the score, the only thing that counts
I used to love football, it was my first sport

I’m exactly the same, used to love it but I have watched 2 full games this year, tonight and the Rangers European final. Barely a sport any longerTichtheid wrote: Sat May 28, 2022 9:35 pm Well done RM

Rangers, or what they come with, was why I stopped supporting Scottish football. They were my team as a kid.
The thing I noticed from being away from football for a few years is that even in that time the players are fitter, faster and a lot more skilful, the game is better now than it was then.

Watching tonight I kept thinking how much more skilful every player is for even a few years ago. Still can’t stand the constant cheating thoughTichtheid wrote: Sat May 28, 2022 9:42 pmSlick wrote: Sat May 28, 2022 9:37 pmI’m exactly the same, used to love it but I have watched 2 full games this year, tonight and the Rangers European final. In general, I don't watch Scottish football, but I have done an in-depth survey covering two whole games, Man City v Real Madrid and Liverpool v Real Madrid.
The top level seems to have kicked on, back then Barcelona played keep ball, the others do that but also play great attacking style, the players and leaner, faster and all of them are very comfortable on the ball, in every position on the park.
My first day at school when my parents moved us to England I was asked who I supported. I only knew Rangers, who no one had heard of, so went home and asked my dad who I should support. Liverpool, Kenny Dalgleish plays for them was the answer, so that’s where that comes fromTichtheid wrote: Sat May 28, 2022 9:42 pmSlick wrote: Sat May 28, 2022 9:37 pmI’m exactly the same, used to love it but I have watched 2 full games this year, tonight and the Rangers European final. I used to get Shoot magazine on subscription. I could name practically every player in every team in the Scottish and English first divisions, as was.
Nowadays, well, I've heard of Mo Salah

BS. I've done the Staid many times. It's a soulless place but one thing it is not is hard to get mass nos too quickly.Seems not only were the Scousers out on the p*ss until the last moment (St Denis does not have much in the way of bars), true to their tea leaf origins, there were many fake tickets which added to delays at the gates.Jb1981 wrote: Sat May 28, 2022 8:55 pm Mixed messaging about the pre-game issues from what I can see. Thousands trying to storm the turnstiles doesn't help either. Always someone else to blame though.Torquemada 1420 wrote: Sun May 29, 2022 5:35 amBS. I've done the Staid many times. Great to hear the learned views of eye witness accounts on this fred. Seems cut and dry.
There are different view being told from among others official police observers. I’m not saying either way but there should be an open investigation.
Oh, and by the way, Liverpool fans (or ‘scousers’ as a race) were held to be completely blameless re Hillsborough. Or do we throw this into the mix again?

“It was a pet, not an animal. It had a name, you don't eat things with names, this is horrific!”
Andy Robertson gave one of his ticket allocation to a friend and they were turned away because it was “fake”. There will be fake tickets at any big event - often naively bought, but when a ticket from a player is being rejected, something more went wrong.

Seem to be plenty of reports suggesting that system outages and poor organisation were at least partially to blame here. As attractive as is may be for some to pin all the blame on those cheeky 'scousers'
Everyone agrees that huge mistakes were made and a decent police and stewarding operation should have been able to control the situation safely, however i think most also quietly feel its nonsense to suggest the initial actions of the fans didn't at least contribute to the disaster that followed.PCPhil wrote: Sun May 29, 2022 9:02 am Great to hear the learned views of eye witness accounts on this fred. As to "scousers as a race" comment, what the actual fuck does that even mean.
I don't think anyone is trying to pin all the blame on them, but we are certainly allowed to take issue with them trying to pin all the blame on the organisation.Margin__Walker wrote: Sun May 29, 2022 9:13 am Seem to be plenty of reports suggesting that system outages and poor organisation were at least partially to blame here. Plenty of BBC correspondents who were there are now questioning the UEFA late arrival of Liverpool fans statement with one at least saying it was demonstrably wrong.
In a crowd that big no doubt some were in the wrong but the more video / reporting, the clearer it seems that the entry was poorly managed.

Yeah alright, poor choice of words in this forum. I just remember the state sponsored character assassination of not just Liverpool fans but the whole city (one example the blond bumblecvunt using the phrase self-pity city in a national paper).Blackmac wrote: Sun May 29, 2022 9:19 amEveryone agrees that huge mistakes were made and a decent police and stewarding operation should have been able to control the situation safely, however i think most also quietly feel its nonsense to suggest the initial actions of the fans didn't at least contribute to the disaster that followed.PCPhil wrote: Sun May 29, 2022 9:02 am Great to hear the learned views of eye witness accounts on this fred. Yeah the state reaction against the Liverpool fans was shocking, but I do feel that this has led to the situation that even the slightest criticism of the fans is unacceptable. If you look at my posting history on the Hillsborough thread on PR I was a strong critic of the policing of the event, however that was caveated by the the general disregard for safety of that era.PCPhil wrote: Sun May 29, 2022 10:19 amYeah alright, poor choice of words in this forum. I was also a strong critic of the policing of the Manchester Europa Cup final so I am in no way blinded to the failings of my old profession.
You do wonder why though. At a stadium with so much experience of dealing with these large crowds, which tends to lead to the belief that the turnstile/entry problems were caused by unusual influences, ie ticketless fans, fake tickets etc.Jb1981 wrote: Sun May 29, 2022 10:13 am Plenty of BBC correspondents who were there are now questioning the UEFA late arrival of Liverpool fans statement with one at least saying it was demonstrably wrong.

20 shots, 9 on target... v 2 shots, one on target.Blackmac wrote: Sun May 29, 2022 10:54 am As to the football, I am in no way an expert but I find Liverpools insistence on trying one more decisive pass when they are in an obvious shooting situation to be incredibly frustrating.

Very much post event but the reality in those days is it was always "bundle" at the turnstiles and having been squeezed personally at the narrowing entrances to Hillsborough at that end and other grounds, the combo of "herd the hooligans" policing at the time was always going to end up in bad news somewhere.PCPhil wrote: Sun May 29, 2022 9:02 am Great to hear the learned views of eye witness accounts on this fred. Did 39 Italian fans simply commit suicide at Heysel?
I'll state it again, the Stade is one of the easiest facilities in the world to get mass numbers in and out safely. It appears there were no such problems involving Madrid fans.
Oh, definitely. It was also just one of those days, where they had the best opportunities but it didn't happen for them... could easily have scored 3 or 4 goals, but didn't. Mixture of great goalkeeping, luck and sometimes poor execution. The universe was on the side of Madrid last night...Blackmac wrote: Sun May 29, 2022 11:26 amFrom last night you can't tell me there weren't opportunities lost.Grandpa wrote: Sun May 29, 2022 11:02 am20 shots, 9 on target... v 2 shots, one on target.Blackmac wrote: Sun May 29, 2022 10:54 am As to the football, I am in no way an expert but I find Liverpools insistence on trying one more decisive pass when they are in an obvious shooting situation to be incredibly frustrating.

Too many assumptions... Heysel was the fault of Liverpool fans. Totally unrelated to last night... 20,000 fans herded through one turn style... legitimate tickets rejected... a perfect storm of organisational incompetence...Torquemada 1420 wrote: Sun May 29, 2022 12:25 pmVery much post event but the reality in those days is it was always "bundle" at the turnstiles and having been squeezed personally at the narrowing entrances to Hillsborough at that end and other grounds, the combo of "herd the hooligans" policing at the time was always going to end up in bad news somewhere.PCPhil wrote: Sun May 29, 2022 9:02 am Great to hear the learned views of eye witness accounts on this fred. The Stade holds 80k. There are at least 16 "gates" at which there are very many turnstiles per gate. I call BS on 20k passing through 1 turnstile.Grandpa wrote: Sun May 29, 2022 12:35 pm

Maybe legit tickets were rejected but how many illegal tickets were there?
