Amazing he hasn’t played for weeks, I just don’t know where his strength comes from. Thought he probably wouldn’t make the Scotland team for next week but he might well do after that performance
Quality player.

The Sharks two fatties were great with ball in hand. Ox grubber was a bit of a fuck up.

Fair to say that was not the dominant view in the ground.

And the sharks ten is a chippy wee cunt.
And are there two g’s in Bugger Off?

Watch it, I got told off for mentioning this

Edit: although Jim Hamilton kept saying what a great game he had, in fairness

This was a GREAT match and so very well done to both teams.
It could have gone either way.
Well done $harks. You deserve it despite having the non tackling Bosch at 10.

Jolling atm. Will catch up later. Very happy with the win

Damn, I thought Connacht had gotten off lightly with just conceding the try, but the Ref went back & binned our hooker too

What a pass !

Took out four Lions players, & TOH has a walk in.

29 - 17, & that's the TBP

Edinburgh v Sharks was a huge match.

Thought the Sharks pack did well, was always pushing Edinburgh hard. James Venter did well, Ox also quite a few pens against Ox but they all looked quite 50/50 to me. Backline, Fassi's best match maybe, he normally goes missing in matches like these but it starting to defend really well (commentator was wrong at the end, it wasn't Fassi that missed a tackle it was Penxe), both 9s Williams and Wright did well,, Bosch's run of good form continues.

Thought the Sharks got luck on the maul try, looked held up to me. Mchunu should've scored with his chance, he was holding the ball in the wrong arm, maybe gets a free pass because he's a prop but that's just basics.

Great defence from 66 minutes onwards when the yellow card happened, which ended up being 21 minutes mostly defending.

Also got me thinking, that playing in the URC and Euro comps, we're seeing the sides use way more of their squad. In Super Rugby you would never see this amount of rotation, one of the seasons the Bulls won Super Rugby they didn't even use 30 players in the whole season, when the Bulls full squad has always been 60+. Can only be good stretching our squads more and more players getting a chance in something meaningful.

Nightmare for Hendrikse.

That's the second time he's been blocked down, & this time it cost them the try. The pass back wasn't the most sympathetic.

Injuries & substitutions have taken all the fizz out of the game, so still 36 - 17 with ~20 mins to go

Lions are done, shame there's some strong players in their side.

It was like a classic Super Rugby weekend, only the Sharks prevented the white wash. :spin

Spoke too soon; two quick tries, with Blade in for his Hatrick, & Louw with a quick tap after a decent few phases from Lions.

Jackman is right on comms; it's now more important that Connacht deny Lions an TBP, than score again themselves.

This is a team they'll be fighting for position with at the end of the season.

Connachts 100% home record against the saffer sides continues

Hope the Connacht guys take the Lions players out for pints tonight; they deserve a lie in tomorrow after a long six weeks on the road.

As an aside; remember when World Rugby was fretting about how we weren't seeing enough tries, & they thought the game was losing its entertainment value ?

Code: Select all

Scarlets 37 Bulls 28 = 65
Ulster 35 Stormers 5 = 40
Benetton 30 Munster 40 = 70
Dragons 28 Glasgow Warriors 42 = 70
Leinster 38 Cardiff Rugby 14 = 52
Edinburgh 19 Sharks 22 = 41
Connacht 43 Lions 24 = 67
Obviously scores aren't the only measure of entertainment, but the URC is turning out some very competitive games

Yesterday was more of a B-C team, given we have 20 players with the Ireland squad, and another 7 injured. 8 of the players were under the age of 23.

Is that at the base of the scrum? Zebre 9 (?) played it on the floor I think.

Yip he was on the floor.
Clear pen, that said the Osprey's 9 needed to have a kick in the balls.
He was appalling in his game management and slowed the Ospreys ball down, kicked aimlessly and was just poor from a game management pov.

Yeah, I mean in a way I don't like to criticise individuals, not their fault if there's no one better available but they'd have lost without Myler.

That was a gutsy performance by the $harks. I really thought we'd lost it at the end, but the b-team really stepped up.

Incredible performance from Ox, probably the best I've seen him play.

Marnus Potgieter is starting to turn into a very good winger. Grobelar is also turning into one of the better locks we've had in recent years.

Still a lot to work on, but those sort of games really help. Nice to know we've got two games in the bank too, so we could potentially finish the season quite high on the log.

You would think. We don't have a fortress at Kingspark. However we do have a lot more quality in depth. I expect all the Stormers Springboks to play this weekend. Lets leave the excuses behind.

A victory this weekend will do wonders for our campaign in the URC.....
Could move us up to 6th......so everything to play for....

We have 2 games in hand.....lets say 8 points if the boys do the job....that could push us up to 4th.
