Yeah... test rugby has many facets, there are so many variables in one game. But apparently we lost because of two missed kicks.Uncle fester wrote: Wed Nov 01, 2023 8:30 pmOn another day, the try you did keep on the board would have been checked for the very iffy final pass and you wouldn't have been close at the finish.Guy Smiley wrote: Wed Nov 01, 2023 8:21 pmThe referee apologised to the All Black captain for incorrectly penalising him at a ruck. No one is claiming there's no other ways to win games. When you lose a game with one point though and missed two kicks, you lost because you missed the kicks.
When you like winning by cheating then it's normal for you to complain about tech, rules and systems that makes it harder to cheat.
I'm not complaining about that, these things happen and it's the way of the game.
But it shits all over your argument like a wildebeest stuck in a coffee shop. Which is how you guys 'discuss' things, coincidentally.
I was really hoping that the NZ Supporters wouldn't pull a French or English bitch fest after the match. Mostly the posters on here have been reasonable. Out there it's horrendous. From fans to ex players and coaches.
I am also tired of the " we were the better team playing better rugby " after a loss.
It really is becoming unpleasant. Not just unpleasant. Tiresome.
For me they can rather just stop the RWCs . Do away with them. It's better for all concerned especially the officials.

1. proud of the ABs making the Final and getting so close
2. praising of the Boks' ability to always find a way to win, and their great achievement in getting there the hard way
3. (almost) thankful that if we had to lose to anyone, at least it was the Boks, and not bloody England or Australia!
4. critical of the whole TMO situation (but pretty chill about Barnes) and the effect it had on the game as a spectacle, but emphatic that it in no way diminished SA's victory
Sards, I don't do social media, and have zero interest in the opinions of twitter or facebook hardmen. It wouldn't surprise me if the interwebs is full of feral death-threateners. But they're not representative of genuine rugby supporters, from anywhere in the world, and it doesn't make sense to me to get wound up over a bunch of anonymous dickheads. Anyway, that's just my perspective, fwiw.
Yeah, fair enough. I got a bit carried away. Apologies.average joe wrote: Wed Nov 01, 2023 11:53 amYou have it all wrong mate. I was merely stating facts to someone that felt you lost because of the officiating. You know like, raising my opinion and having a discussion on the game of rugby.

A majority of our SA supporters in here seem determined to turn this into some sort of 'Kiwis are sore losers' festival which is really weird considering how all of us in here and on the shows you mention have been full of praise towards the Boks and their victory.Gumboot wrote: Thu Nov 02, 2023 12:33 amI find that very odd, having watched several NZ rugby shows since the game and found the pundits' opinions overwhelmingly:Sards wrote: Wed Nov 01, 2023 11:43 pm I was really hoping that the NZ Supporters wouldn't pull a French or English bitch fest after the match. Gumboot. Spot on, i have watched a couple of NZ shows and coverage as well. This is exactly what has been said. By jeff wilson, mils, izzy dagg, kirwan and others. Don't listen to the crap posted here on a internet forum. The saffers here should watch those shows and listen to what those guys are saying. So, you would base your loss on marginal 50/50 calls that did not go your way, rather than focus on the points that was there for the taking?Guy Smiley wrote: Wed Nov 01, 2023 8:55 pmYeah... test rugby has many facets, there are so many variables in one game. I was forced to watch the final on Stuff. The constant nagging from the commentators at half time and at the end about how their showpiece event was ruined was an eye opener. Izzy Dagg was the worst of the lot.boere wors wrote: Thu Nov 02, 2023 5:08 amGumboot. Spot on, i have watched a couple of NZ shows and coverage as well. This is exactly what has been said. It's real shitty to commend your opponent and then end with a but "they're so boring, the refs against us, our show piece event was ruined".
In the heat of the moment, you see a person's true feeling surface. Give them a few days to cool down and they'll all appear all gracious and proper.

Draw as above
Piped music at every break in play. Has a place for tier 2 games with a lot of neutrals, but in the knockouts?
Too many games lacked jeopardy. More knockout rugby please

There's been a few fishing expeditions and that's why I said the crown does not fit comfortably. SA's aren't happy with their lucky win, they are not really sure they are the best. I'm fairly sure they hate the way their team plays. They want further and ongoing praise celebrating the might of South Africa to assuage their insecurities.Guy Smiley wrote: Thu Nov 02, 2023 2:29 amA majority of our SA supporters in here seem determined to turn this into some sort of 'Kiwis are sore losers' festival which is really weird considering how all of us in here and on the shows you mention have been full of praise towards the Boks and their victory.Gumboot wrote: Thu Nov 02, 2023 12:33 amI find that very odd, having watched several NZ rugby shows since the game and found the pundits' opinions overwhelmingly:Sards wrote: Wed Nov 01, 2023 11:43 pm I was really hoping that the NZ Supporters wouldn't pull a French or English bitch fest after the match. Well, they can get fucked because this final was the very worst officiated of all of them so far. Not discounting the possibility the next will be worse still.

There's no need for GS to directly attack me and tell me to bugger off. Why do it? My response is basically questioning why he has to attack people, in the form of being attacked himself. GS has delighted in having a go at me for half a generation now. I do not give a damn.OomStruisbaai wrote: Thu Nov 02, 2023 7:44 amYou and Biffer struggle to not overstep. Steve Hansen calls for the TMO to be scrapped altogether:
I haven't seen many SA's calling for change in the way the game is officiated. I wonder why...
https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/rugby-wor ... ugby-rulesFormer All Blacks and Rugby World Cup winning coach Sir Steve Hansen is calling for the TMO to be scrapped, claiming fans are being turned away in their droves by the game being refereed in replay.
“Gone are the days when the referee has control of the game in rugby,” Hansen said. He felt even Barnes was getting frustrated himself with the stop-start nature of the final and said referees are no longer getting a fair crack.
“It’s time to sack the TMO, get rid of it out of our game, other than when the referee asks ‘is there any reason why I can't award this try or is there any reason why I should award this try’,” Hansen told The Breakdown.

Even for me that’s a bit low. There was no charges from what Guy said, just vile accusations.

Actually, I was pretty pissed off with the French for making the AB players stand there and wait for so long. And then expect them to parade up on a stage and shake people's hands to receive loser's medals. I bet all of them just wanted to get to the change rooms, take a warm shower and head to the hotel.
Don't know why they felt it necessary to film them crying while our players were celebrating in front of them. It felt demeaning and unnecessary.
