Alright, I've looked at it again and Cummings definitely drops left and lands on the lower leg. However he does that because a Saffer is getting up in the tackle area on the SA side and interferes. Very clear mitigation and I can't see how they've reached that decision.

It's almost like they were trying to justify the whole 20min RC with that decision; because while it might have been a YC, it was never a RC, & a full RC would have been an absolute travesty, so a 20min RC seems like some kind of relief ?

It's one of them, world rugby have decided to clamp down on landing on knees because it is dangerous and Cummings is the sacrificial lamb.

Yeah, there is clearly no intention at all and nothing illegal in the actual action. If we start sending off for acccidentally landing on someone's leg we are finished.

Enjoyed that replay of Etzebeth getting smashed. Not least because it ends with SA 7 just dropping straight onto the players involved to seal off. A blight on the game these days.
