... well, I feel like a Boomer.

Firstly... I own an mp3 player. Yes, yes, but I bloody love it. 64gb, battery lasts forever, light as a feather.

But this week, it's somehow write-protected itself despite there not being a switch or option in the menu to do so. I can't even factory reset (menu option) or format it (both internally or using my laptop). I can listen to it, but can't add/remove anything.

Any ideas? (Please don't say 'use a phone' or whatever) :lolno:

... alternatively, mock me with a gif!

Maybe if you provided some details of the player, Neigs... someone might be able to actually help. Make, model... you know, more then just 'the blue one'.

You can usually find a manual online.

On a related note, I got excited yesterday when I played a show from BBC Sounds through the car system. My old car played cassettes and fm radio.

I'm trying to think back to using an MP3.

As I recall used my iPod in conjunction with my laptop, so just as a very simple question are you using an account with admin privileges?

If so what does the MP3 folder note for read/write access? If you have an iPod it'd be in my documents, my music, iTunes folder and if you were to right click on the product folder (likely iTunes) and select properties there should be a marker there for 'Read Only' among other things, and the query would be is it ticked, or not? If it is ticked then untick it and try again, it it's not ticked that's my one guess for the day, not that I could tell you why it'd have updated to be set as read only.

Assynt? A friend was up in Kyle last week visiting another friend of ours, pre midge and pre tourist motor homes- he said it was bliss.

Very good advice.

However, it's a generic player I got from Amazon (chucking the manual was a non-boomer thing to do  , brand name not visible so unsure how to look for one online). There is no security tab on the 'usb' icon properties, but all the folders do say 'read only'. I unticked those both individually and as a group and it reverted back to read only?!
