Exhibit 1, normal service resumed from the bagpiper.
Or is that teabagger?
saffers are the biggest religious nutjobs on that continent ..still too dumb to realise that the white men gave them the 'good book' and took all their land... but u don't care, cause you are the white man
I'd say there's greater visibility of the same amount of stupidity or ignorance.Kawazaki wrote: Wed Nov 11, 2020 7:30 am Yes, overwhelmingly so.
'social media' has reversed evolution - people are getting more stupid.

I called this years ago. We always assumed there were 3.5 billion morons out there - the Interweb confirmed it.sockwithaticket wrote: Wed Nov 11, 2020 9:17 amI'd say there's greater visibility of the same amount of stupidity or ignorance.Kawazaki wrote: Wed Nov 11, 2020 7:30 am Yes, overwhelmingly so.

You really think this is a right and left thing?Line6 HXFX wrote: Sun Nov 22, 2020 11:02 am My theory is the wealthy (who control the right wing media and the narrative, and lots of peoples thinking)of course have nothing but nastiness now.
It was always going to be this way.
Before, in the good ole days it was all about civility, trickle down economic theory, work hard, get qualifications do the right thing and we will welcome you onto the ladder of equality.
That was discovered to all be bullshit so now it is all "fuck off and die loser cunt scrounger" etc.
It is nasty because it has to be. There is nothing else left but nastiness..
Peoples wealth is at stake and they don't want to pay or do anything about the inequality in society.
Their wealth depends on lots of people having fuck all. They know it, know there is no moral justification for it. Most wealth is inherited.
So they would much rather be a cunt, get the hate narrative going and have a taxcut.
So we are all at the fag end of Economic Liberalism, where the tactic now is to scream "Communist" at you.
So of course it is seriously fucking nasty.
Before long we will have people disappearing after taking a helicopter ride.
Yup, that was one of the main points in the Netflix doc social dilemma. Social media has a business model that is fuelled by outrage and anger. Now, news media has always gone for scandals and controversy because it "sold newspapers" but what we see now is that to the power of ten.PCPhil wrote: Sun Nov 22, 2020 12:45 pm
What we have done is basically given the kids who were the clever, but there was something weird about them, software geeks at Uni freedom freedom as they "cough" grow up, to shape the thinking of millions of adults across the globe. All driven by establishing outrage and anger to maximise the clicks and hence revenue.
I’ll check out the Netflix doc, as haven’t watched it yet.Hugo wrote: Sun Nov 22, 2020 4:37 pmYup, that was one of the main points in the Netflix doc social dilemma. I think the position of the makers of the documentary (and the dozen or so silicon valley alumni they interview) is not that they have orchestrated an angry culture as much as they have figured out how to profit from it.Random1 wrote: Sun Nov 22, 2020 5:18 pmI’ll check out the Netflix doc, as haven’t watched it yet.Hugo wrote: Sun Nov 22, 2020 4:37 pmYup, that was one of the main points in the Netflix doc social dilemma. But it strikes me that thinking the nerds have orchestrated an angry culture feels a bit off (I know I’m paraphrasing, so please feel free to correct me if I’ve misunderstood - I am on the way to being dewet, so I wouldn’t be surprised!)
Humans can be arseholes in order to get to a point where they feel in control.
Social media is like a much larger and overt manifestation on what happens in any tribal system - any human with power has the chance to be a cunt, groups of humans even more so.
It’s depressingly unsurprising how many choose to take that option.
One of the issues with the internet is the social consequences of being a cunt are generally much lower - you're unlikely to get punched in the face for running your mouth off online.Random1 wrote: Sun Nov 22, 2020 5:18 pmI’ll check out the Netflix doc, as haven’t watched it yet.Hugo wrote: Sun Nov 22, 2020 4:37 pmYup, that was one of the main points in the Netflix doc social dilemma.
