Nortje is lethal

It's hard to believe that the selectors feel that Bueren Hendricks is a better bowler than Nortje.

Isn't it mostly about economy rate with t20?
How do they compare?

Butler's determination to show shamzi how shit he is is his undoing.

That ball spun a mile.

Bairstowe perishes trying to dominate shamzi.

Stokes to the crease.

Does he play sensibly? or does he allow his natural confidence in his own ability dictate?

Stokes and Malan obviously deciding to get after the bowling.

Unusual, normally a conservative approach is seen in 20/20.

Because it's a high scoring game?

You can knock it around for five or six an over and get the occasional boundary without taking risks when you are chasing a low total.

I think most people who understand the game understood the context.

Stokes out - chasing a run-rate that's approaching ten an over.

Going at 5 or 6 an over and praying for a boundary means losing this game at a canter.

Yes, but a more conservative approach early on with the asking rate at seven an over would probably be a safer option.

They'll probably still get them, but they are giving the staffers an opening with their hubris.

The more conservative rate of... miles less than South Africa at any point beyond the first 2 overs?

‘Hubris’ as opposed to how England have approached all white ball cricket since 2015?

If you are telling me that knocking the ball around for singles interspersed with the odd boundary is difficult when you are chasing seven-odd an over, then I bow to your superior knowledge.

I'm saying we were miles behind the rate from almost the very start of the game, and we had to hit lots of boundaries to catch up. T20 isn't about excising risk, it's about gambling at the right time. England started to accelerate, Stokes got out, and they carried on hitting boundaries and as a result the worm looks like this:

Malan is out, having done his job and ensured England don't need to rely on big runs in the final over:

T20 is not ODI cricket.

I’ll never not be fascinated by the way that the presence of England in any sports match can cause people to start foaming at the mouth.

Rinkals is special, he genuinely believes England are the devil and are just insanely arrogant. So whatever our approach, he considers it a sign of our moral failings.

Well done England.

South Africa don't have the self belief to win, despite the potency of their bowling.

Back at Newlands for the last T20, starting at 18:00.

Tough choice for me between Klaassen and Smuts, Smuts just shading it by being able to bowl. Possibly give Sipamla a chance by dropping Ngidi?

I suspect another hiding coming up.

I know we have the bowling to compete, but our batsmen are stuck in the belief that England are a much stronger team.

Whether they are or not, if you approach the game believing that you are not good enough, you won't be.

England probably weren't expecting South Africa to be quite so supine.
