Pressure drop's fashion, a london porter at 6.5%. Very good example of the style, nothing flashy about it.

The queer beer project have just launched 3 of their own beers rather than collaborations. Whatever you think of lily, she knows her stuff. I even enjoyed the wit, which is not a favourite style of mine

The pale and the pilsner are excellent

Wit doesn't usually do it for me but then I used to say that about Saison/Grisettes and the Grisette from Duration was one of my favourite beers last year. I'll give it a whirl. Lily used to work in my local beer shop so I know her a bit.

I have almost finished the lockdown box from BBNo. Mostly very good. The pilsner was the least interesting, the Imperial Gose probably the best.

Thought the PD London Porter was bloody good!!
Just had a mixed box delivered including a 10.2% ABV Verdant/Pohjala collaboration Baltic Porter!! Bought it on spec and never had a Baltic Porter before, should I expect anything different compared to a usual Porter?

Hahaha. Fairly local company, one of theirpubs is in Dundee. Decent bar, do plenty of guest stuff too.

Definitely recommend Yippee IPA if you come across it. Everything else is drinkable, as I say I'm not a fan of stouts so my opinion counts for fuck all.

Fuck me, I've never had a lager quite like it!!! Poured like engine oil, was beautifully (dangerously) smooth lovely deep malts and not sweet at all

They're both pretty decent from what I've had of them (admittedly not much)

Got given a mixed crate of howling hops beers the other day. Only had a couple so far, but the buckle down is a very nice pale and, although not my favourite style, the American brown was excellent - called we buy teeth

Isle of Skye. Loved it up there but hasn't travelled well, felt very watery.

Weather was shite but having a couple after walking 20 miles+ definitely made a difference.

<edit> The Baltic Porter is really good. A decent extra bitterness over the Imperial Brown Stout but still much of the same rich character. Expensive though.

Glad you enjoyed it. I'm not really aware of the price factor, I rarely pay for their beers and if I do, my local londis sells them at a flat rate of £2.50 per bottle, no matter what strength/size

Dinsdale. Forgot to mention that lost and grounded are now making a helles, launching on the 18th. My mate who works there says they're very very happy with it, so put it on your watchlist

I love a good Helles - I've just ordered 40 bottles of Augustiner - but as Lost & Grounded are so good I'll get some for research purposes. Cheers for the tip.

A bit more mainstream than the lagers mentioned above, but brewdog's lost lager is perfectly acceptable and is currently offered at 48 cans for £40 which is a pretty good deal.

it is seriously good.

the other decent beers from the weekend mostly came from boxcar brewery. not had a duff beer from them yet. would seriously recommend everything i've tried from there over the last few months.

the final beer to recommend is the L&G helles i mentioned above. my mate sent me an early release. it's excellent

I'm a big fan of Dark Star brewery, they started in the basement of a pub here. Over lockdown I've bought a few mini kegs from them, the APA is always good, there was a bitter which doesn't seem to be available now.

Hophead has been a huge success for them, the bottles are available to order and in retrospect it's a better way to buy, rather than the minikegs.

Anspach and hobday are 7 and they're doing an imperial Baltic porter. 9%. It's fucking outstanding.

Also, a new one to me recently was the boxcar dark mild. Really really good as well.


Re darkstar, their APA (American Pale) was one of the beers that really got me into beer, alongside jaipur (both cask).

Asahi seem to be leaving the brewers alone for the most part from what I hear. I can't really comment on hop head recently, I haven't had a pint of it for at least 18 months
