Is it going to break or not?

Concrete Gravity Dam type. Some rumours about saying it’s potentially a shitstorm waiting to flood. Total capacity 39.3 km3, hundreds of millions downstream.

Any experts on here to explain the technicalities?

If it's on the right areas of the pitch then without doubt.

He'd only have to give it a withering stare..
I love watching little children running and screaming, playing hide and seek in the playground.
They don't know I'm using blanks..

It’s operators are sounding confident. Apparently it’s dealt with flow rates of 70,000 cubic meters per second in the past. That’s a lorra, lorra water.

Read somewhere that if the Dam did burst it would displace 400 million. Staggering number when you think about it.

If that happens the Ozzies would want to man the barricades, because they aren't going to just stay where they are & drown, & starve.

It wasn’t this specifically but the longer article behind it. If you google you should find it easily enough.

Hydrologist here.

I have no qualms about the design of the dame. In theory, it should work well. It's a big bastard though and dams can only hold so much water.

I am, however, rather sceptical of the quality of workmanship.

I'd say there was more short cuts taken during that construction. The Chinese prioritise time and cost over quality.

That's bollox.

Chinese construction may be lacking where it comes to health and safety and workers rights, but generally it is designed and constructed well. They may take short cuts with workers lives, but generally not with construction standards.

I'm entertained by the image of these three ladies bursting out and forcing millions of Chinese from their homes.

Stack a few sandbags as reinforcement and they'll be fine
